Republic of Ireland U17 International Women

The young 'Girls in Green' created history last April by becoming the first Irish women's team to qualify for the UEFA Championship finals. Ireland went on to defeat Germany in the semi-final and played superbly to draw with Spain in the Championship final. They lost in a penalty shoot-out to Spain after a marvellous contest and their achievements earned them qualification for the World Cup which is being played in Trinidad and Tobago in September 2010. Ireland lost their opening match 1-2 to favourites Brazil and will play Canada and Ghana next.
