‘The transfer of players between clubs belonging to the same Association is governed by specific regulations issued by the Association concerned in accordance with article 1 paragraph 3 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. Such regulations should provide for a system to reward clubs affiliated to the relevant Association investing in the training and education of young players’.
Domestic Training Compensation Agreements have been in place in Irish football since 2008 when the first agreement between the National League Clubs (NLEC) and the Schoolboy Clubs was introduced into the FAI Rules.
FAI Domestic Training Compensation is paid to a player’s training clubs from the year of is 10th Birthday when a player is registered for the first time as a professional with a club affiliated to the FAI.
In addition, if the player is transferred within a specified period of time from the date of having registered as a professional, any club that has contributed to his education and training shall receive a proportion of the transfer fee received by the club.
