The Club Mark recognises the club’s continuous development on and off the field, and follows the recent announcement of Baldoyle United as ‘official affiliate club‘ of 2020 SSE Airtricity League of Ireland champions Shamrock Rovers.
Situated on Dublin’s East coast the club has over 20 teams at schoolboy, schoolgirl and adult level, playing in the NDSL, MGL, Leinster Senior and Amateur leagues. It also hosts a hugely popular Junior Academy for 4 to 9-year-old girls and boys every Saturday morning on the club’s all-weather pitch.
The famous green and white hoops of Baldoyle United date from the 1950s with the club providing football in the area continuously since 1969. The club plays its home games at its clubhouse on Brookstone Road, and also at nearby Racecourse Park and Seagrange Green.
Receiving the Club Mark award, Baldoyle United Chair, Dermot Penrose said: “The club has gone from strength to strength in recent years and now has over 300 members. We are delighted to have received the award. It recognises the commitment from all our volunteers in ensuring the club is well organised, with strong structures in place to develop and support our coaches and players.”
Baldoyle United’s commitment to the development of football in the local area was acknowledged in 2016 when the club received the FAI’s Community Club of the Year award. Fingal County Council awarded the club the ‘Community Group of the Year’ title, an award aimed at all voluntary groups in the area. Union UNITE also recognised the club’s commitment to inclusivity through providing social football for asylum seekers and refugees in the direct provision system with its ‘Grassroots Community Club of the Year’ award in late 2019.
On the field, the club boasts numerous league and cup titles with its Under 12 boys side recently winning the SFAI (North Leinster) Cup.
