The Ireland midfielder, who has had an incredible impact on Stephen Kenny's side throughout the year, was presented with his award by Ireland legend Paul McGrath at a special ceremony in the team hotel last night, as the squad prepare for the international friendly against Norway.
Ireland WNT skipper Katie McCabe, who has led her side to the Women's World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand in 2023, won the FAI Women's Senior Player of the Year. She won the award against the two other nominees; goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan and midfielder Denise O'Sullivan.
Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu won the FAI Young International Player of the Year, holding off competition from the nominees Jason Knight and Chiedozie Ogbene. Bazunu also received his award from Ireland legend Paul McGrath last night ahead of Thursday's friendly.
Conor Coventry, who captained the side to their first-ever UEFA European Championships play-off, secured the FAI Under-21s Player of the Year, holding off competition from nominees goalkeeper Brian Maher and defender Lee O'Connor.
All four awards have been publicly announced with the rest of the awards to be presented next week.
