Deen Celtic was established in 1984 when Comer Rovers and Ardra Rovers amalgamated.
At this time land was purchased by the then committee at the Prince Grounds in Castlecomer where a full-size pitch, clubhouse with a lounge, two dressing rooms and toilet facilities were constructed. The location remains the home of Deen Celtic.
In the mid 1990’s additional land was purchased and a second pitch was developed. Then in 1999, the club added an all-weather pitch, spearheaded by Richie Lynch, Terry Renwick and Eamon Nolan which was the first all-weather pitch in County Kilkenny.
The turn of the millennium saw additional growth for the club with two additional dressing rooms, showers and a referee's room all built in 2006 to facilitate the ever-increasing schoolboy/girl teams within the club.
Deen Celtic's all-weather pitch was extended in 2019 and is now a top of the range FIFA approved playing surface with new LED lighting and retractable goals. Over the years the club facilities have been used for many interleague games by Kilkenny and District League.
The club has had much success over the years winning multiple leagues and cups across age groups and Deen Celtic has grown to have over 350 members.
Many great players have dawned the Dean Celtic shirt and also represent the Kilkenny and District League and Kennedy Cup teams. Irish International Sean Maguire started his career with the club before moving on to have great success in Ireland and the UK.
All the club’s success can only be attributed to the dedication and commitment of past and present committee members, managers and volunteers of the club who have given up so much of their time to guide the club to where it is today. The club would like to give a special thanks to William Kinsella FAI Development Officer for supporting the club in obtaining the Club Mark award.
