Feature | Brosnan extends form for club and country

The stats don't lie and they reveal that Courtney Brosnan was, statistically, the best goalkeeper in England's Women's Super League for the 2023-24 season.

The Ireland No 1 had another stellar campaign for Everton where she faced the most shots (133) and registered the most saves (99) with five important clean sheets added to that.

Brosnan is in the form of her life. Currently on a run of 26 consecutive games at international level, she was voted as the FAI WNT Player of the Year last year and has kept 16 clean sheets to date - making her second on the all-time list behind Emma Byrne.

As she prepares to link up with the Ireland squad for the EURO 2025 qualifiers at home and way to Sweden, the agile shot-stopper can take a lot of confidence from her level of consistency between the posts.

Everton have just wrapped up their season and many observers are claiming that she was their best player. The 28-year-old can back up those claims with some impressive numbers as she boasts a 99% accuracy with her short passing, she won 88% of her duels and made 50 vital interceptions.

Brosnan was not the only Irish player to excel at club level in England this season with Katie McCabe helping Arsenal to lift the FA Women's League Cup, Aoife Mannion playing her part in Manchester United's FA Women's Cup triumph and the Crystal Palace trio of Hayley Nolan, Izzy Atkinson and Abbie Larkin winning the Championship.

However, Brosnan deserves any plaudits that might come her way as she aims to extend her excellent form into the upcoming international window.
