MU17 | Squad named for Finland and Hungary friendlies

Ireland Men’s Under-17s Head Coach Colin O’Brien has named a 22 player-squad for two friendlies in Spain this week.

The young Boys in Green will face Finland on Wednesday followed by Hungary on Saturday, both games will take place in Oliva Nova near Valencia.

The games will serve as preparation for the Under-17s EURO Qualifiers due to take place in Poland next month. O’Brien’s team were drawn in Group A6 against hosts Poland, as well as Iceland and Belgium with the team finishing top earning a place at the finals in Albania. 

O’Brien has named in his squad Chris Idah of Klub Kildare and Gavin McAteer of Finn Harps who will feature in an Ireland squad for the first time.

Republic of Ireland Men’s Under-17s

Goalkeepers: Darragh Brunton (St. Patrick’s Athletic), George Moloney (Southampton), Ali Topcu (Shelbourne)

Defenders: Billy Canny (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Aidan Gabbidon (Malmö FF), Vincent Leonard (Dundalk), Oisin McDonagh (Venezia FC), Sean Spaight (Dundalk).

Midfielders: Rory Finneran (Newcastle United), Billy Hayes (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Oskar Skoubo Keely (Bohemians), Brody Lee (Shamrock Rovers), Ramon Martos (UC Almeria), Gavin McAteer (Finn Harps), Kian McMahon Brown (Burnley), Goodness Ogbonna (Shamrock Rovers), Niall Sullivan (St. Patrick’s Athletic).
