Newbridge Town achieve FAI Club Mark award

Newbridge Town FC are the latest club to achieve the FAI Club Mark Entry Level award, a major milestone for the Kildare club.

The famous club, steeped in rich tradition having been formed in the 1960's, have been one of the most progressive in the county and the Club Mark award follows a lot of hard work from the officials and volunteers at the club.

Newbridge Town FC officially entered the Counties League Division Two in 1969, finishing fourth in the league and crowned Counties Cup Champions in their first season. Success continued to follow which led the club to join the Leinster Junior League and after more progress, their crowning moment came in 1998/99 when they won the Leinster Senior League.

It's not only in senior football where the club have enjoyed success. Newbridge developed their youth project having one of the largest bases of youth players in the country.

Present day, Newbridge have three senior teams in the Leinster Senior League, ten womens/girls sides and an incredible 28 schoolboy teams from U9 to U17. The club also runs a U6 & U8 coaching academy each Sunday morning which has 100 players experiencing their first introduction to football.

Most importantly, the club has top tier facilities including a clubhouse, training facilities, new all-weather pitches, showers and dressing rooms.

"I'm delighted to see Newbridge Town awarded the FAI Club Mark Entry Level award," said FAI Kildare Development Officer Pat Behan.

"There has been a lot of great work going on behind the scenes at the club and this is testament to the brilliant volunteer base the club has. It's an active club in the community and the amount of junior sides the club has shows how important it is to developing talent in Kildare.

"It's a progressive club and their academy continues to go from strength to strength, and with the facilities the club has already, I'm excited for the future of Newbridge Town."
