Apr 19 2024
It is the first time the final has taken place since 2019 when Limerick & District League beat Kilkenny & District League 1-0.
Two panel of players made up of the best players in each county’s league will face off at Umbro Park, Milebush, Castlebar, with Mayo hoping home advantage serves them well.
But they come up against a Waterford side who have a long affiliation with this competition. They were the first winners of the trophy back in 1964 when they overcame the Dublin Athletic Union League and they would retain their crown a year later beating the Leinster Junior League .
It’s a first appearance in a final for Mayo since 1981 and they reached Sunday’s showdown beating the Sligo/Leitrim District Soccer League 2-1. Waterford had to defeat North East opposition in Donegal Junior League getting the better of their opposition 3-2.
