REPORT | GU16 | Ireland 5-3 Cymru

The Ireland Girls' Under-16s recorded a 5-3 victory over Cymru in an International Friendly in the FAI National Training Centre.

This game was the second of two meetings between the sides within three days and Head Coach Tom Elmes was able to use 32 players altogether across the fixtures.

Having won the first battle 4-3, Ireland came out strong again here with Peamount United's Eva Loftus converting a penalty before Shamrock Rovers forward Kassie McLoughlin finished off a swift breakaway to make it 2-0 going in at the interval.

Similar to the previous game, Ireland made wholesale changes at the break. It took the hosts some time to find their feet in the second period and Cymru took advantage by scoring from a free-kick.

Shamrock Rovers striker Sophie Byrne notched Ireland's third goal and Shelbourne's Hallie Harcourt - who netted twice in the first game - got another to make it 4-1.

Cymru showed a lot of grit as they got a goal back themselves before Byrne got her second goal of the game. The visitors got one back to finish up the scoring but Ireland had done enough to win it.

Overall, Elmes and his staff will be pleased with the performance as they look to work with a new group of players over the coming season to help them with their development at international level.

Ireland: Lucy Doyle Farrington (Rhiann Murphy 46); Lara Dallaghan (Annabel Mulcaire Quille 46), Holly O’Hagan (Sophie Clarke 46), Isabella Talotti (Kaitlyn Delahunty 46), Keelin Comiskey (Hailey Twomey 46); Madison McGuane (Mia Murtagh 46), Chloe Sarcia-Maxwell (Alex Devoy 46); Kassie McLoughlin (Halle Harcourt 46), Eva Loftus (Sophie Byrne 46), Alice Buggle (Caelan Bacon 46); Ciara Milton (Mia Gaff 46).
