REPORT | Ireland WNT 0-3 Sweden WNT

The Ireland Women's National Team suffered a 3-0 loss to Sweden in their third EURO 2025 Qualifier.

A crowd of 22,868 turned out to cheer on the Girls in Green at the Aviva Stadium but the Olympic runners-up went away with the three points.

A breakaway goal, finished by Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, on 26 minutes gave the visitors the lead despite some good early pressure by Ireland.

Both Lily Agg and Amber Barrett had chances to score but missed the target. Still, the home side kept pushing and forced their opponents back inside their own half.

In the second period, a superb goal from Fridolina Rolfo extended Sweden's lead and forced Eileen Gleeson's side to adjust as they searched for a way back into the game.

Substitute Megan Campbell - making her 50th appearance - helped to apply that pressure with her long-range throw-ins and Leanne Kiernan's pace caused problems.

However, Sweden got a third goal through Rytting Kanery on 86 minutes to seal the win. Ireland can, and should, take a lot of positives from their performance ahead of the teams meeting again in Stockholm on Tuesday.

Ireland: Courtney Brosnan; Jess Ziu, Anna Patten (Megan Campbell 73), Louise Quinn, Caitlin Hayes, Katie McCabe; Jessie Stapleton (Tyler Toland 59), Megan Connolly, Lily Agg (Leanne Kiernan 73); Amber Barrett (Emily Murphy 84), Kyra Carusa (Aoife Mannion 73).

Sweden: Zecira Musovic; Nathalie Bjorn (Hanna Lundkvist 46), Linda Sembrant, Magdalena Eriksson, Jonna Andersson; Filippa Angeldahl, Kosovare Asllani (Matilda Vinvberg 66) Julia Zigotti Olme; Johanna Rytting Kaneryd (Sofia Jakobssen 86), Madelen Janogy (Pauline Hammarlund 66), Fridolina Rolfo (Rosa Kafaji 89).

Referee: Katalin Kulcsár (Hungary).
