REPORT | WU17 3-2 Hungary

The first game of 2025 for the Ireland Women's Under-17s ended in a 3-2 win over Hungary in an International Friendly.

This was the first of two games against the same opponent in the Pinatar Arena, Spain as Head Coach James Scott prepares his squad for upcoming UEFA EURO Qualifiers.

Goals from Lauren Bowe (2) and Madison McGuane helped Ireland secure the victory on a hot afternoon where they had to show a fighting spirit to hold off Hungary.

McGuane picked up where she left off last year with another superb display as she scored her third goal at this level - in just nine appearances - while Arsenal midfielder Bowe impressed with two crucial finishes.

The teams will meet again on Saturday, February 8th in the same venue as Ireland step up their preparations for EURO qualifiers in March against Lithuania and Faroe Islands.

Ireland: Jenna Willoughby; Kate Jones (Aoife Colbert Martin 57), Finley Newell (Heather Loomes 57), Aibhlinn Cotter (Michaela Hand 71), Emma Gaughran; Lauren Bowe (Sarah McCaffrey 57), Madison McGuane (Beatrice Silickaite 71); Aisling Meehan (Ava Mullins 57), Ella Kelly, Maeve Wollmer (Leah McGrath 57); Anna Butler (Ciara Breslin 71).
