WU19 | Review of 2021

The hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Women's Under-19 European Championships are still alive for this talented group of players.

The Qualifying Round, held in Limerick, didn't go exactly to plan with narrow defeats to England and Switzerland followed by a win over Northern Ireland. But the performances were hugely encouraging.

Head Coach Dave Connell assembled a strong squad and was able to use five friendly games to see what worked best before they entered the qualifiers, where a bit of luck evaded them.

The trio of Aoibheann Clancy, Ellen Molloy and Jessie Stapleton each earned call-ups to the Women's Senior Team during the year, while this was a first year at U19 for each of the players used.

There is still plenty to play for in 2022 and Connell will be excited about the opportunity to work with these players as they aim to fulfill their potential and qualify for the EURO finals.
